We recently completed a transformative house extension project under permitted development rights. This development involved a substantial single-story extension to a detached house, measuring an impressive 8 meters in length and 10 meters in width. Designed to cater to the vibrant lifestyle of a young family with two children, the extension features a family room that seamlessly integrates a kitchen, lounge, TV area, and dining room. We enhanced natural light throughout the space with strategic placements of skylights, reducing the need for artificial lighting and thereby decreasing energy consumption. The original lounge was reimagined into an elegant adult retreat—perfect for reading and socializing, while the children enjoy the outdoors or the entertainment area in the new extension. Additionally, the former kitchen was converted into a functional utility room. The use of light and bright colors throughout the interiors not only enhances the sense of space but also creates a welcoming atmosphere.
